Banned Breed Terms & Conditions
As lovers of all dog breeds (and an owner of 1.5 Staffordshire Bull Terriers), we don't necessarily agree with blanket banned breed legislation.
However, as business owners wanting to be able to support all dogs, regardless of breed and background, we need to fall in line with our insurance so that we can continue to offer owners and pups a safe place to be outdoors — which, to us, is the most important aspect.
Many of these terms should already legally be in place for the dog, and others mirror our standard T&Cs, so they shouldn't come as a surprise.
The "Who can join the banned breed" rules are the main changes. It's a hark back to the Covid mixing-homes criteria — in essence, if you mix homes, the lead and muzzle must stay on the banned breeds, and the dog needs its own 1:1 adult handler.
We understand this is a hard pill to swallow, but for us to continue offering you a safe outdoor space to let them run free unmuzzled, we need you to follow this rule, no exceptions. Please help us keep this space open to others in the same predicament.
We're covered by our insurance to hire our private and secure area, The Field Inverness, for banned breeds on the following basis.
The dog meets all legal requirements:
- 1. Registered with the Index of Exempted Dogs (IED). A copy of the life certificate must be provided to us in the event of a claim.
- 2. The relevant public liability insurance is in place for the dog. A copy of this certificate must be provided to us in the event of a claim.
- 3. The dog is neutered — in line with government rules.
- 4. The dog is microchipped — also in line with government rules.
The Field meets all requirements:
- 1. The Field is private property with no public access, provided you've locked both gates — already in the standard T&Cs.
- 2. The Field is securely fenced — check you're confident in the fenceline before un-leading and unmuzzling, as per the standard T&Cs.
- 3. The dog is kept on a lead and muzzled until the smaller field gate is locked behind you on entry.
- 4. The dog is put back on a lead and muzzled before opening the smaller field gate to leave.
- 5. Lead and muzzle can come off once inside the secured field — all gates locked, fenceline checked.
Who can join the banned breed:
- 1. If the household has more than one dog, they can come to The Field together as long as there's at least one adult handler. All leads and muzzles can come off once inside, including the banned breed.
- 2. If there are dogs from different households, the banned breed remains muzzled and on a lead at all times with a 1:1 adult handler. The other dogs need a separate handler.
